Tut Systems Demo MPEG-4 AVC at Government Video 2005 As the core video processing engine of many government video applications (November 23, 2005)

Tut Systems Inc. will showcase its industry-leading MPEG-4 AVC and IP-based forward error correction solutions from November 30-December 1 at Government Video Technology Expo 2005 at booth 427.

As the core video processing engine of many government video applications, Tut Systems' carrier class Astria content processor platform extends its industry leadership with the addition of its internally developed, MPEG-4 AVC encoding and transcoding solutions. With more than 1000 channels deployed, the Astria CP, and its recently-released Multi-Stream Processor card, are leading the market for MPEG-4 AVC over telecommunications networks around the world. MPEG-4 AVC compression enables a 50% reduction over MPEG-2 in bandwidth required to broadcast quality video applications for government agencies.

Tut Systems will also demonstrate its standards-based, state-of-the-art forward error correction capabilities for IP video networks carrying classified and unclassified video information. IP Forward Error Correction allows routed video networks to recover seamlessly from lost or reordered packets that cause perceived degradation in video quality. This high-performance, second-generation solution provides FEC error protection and recovery for hundreds of channels of video on a single board. Tut's IP FEC solution may be integrated into an Astria CP or act as a standalone FEC-only system for third-party video processing solutions using IP transport.

The Industry's Leading Carrier-Class Video Platform
Government agencies around the world use Tut Systems' solutions for mission-critical, real-time broadcast, surveillance, and conferencing applications. The Astria family of video processing platforms processes both analog and digital video streams from multiple satellite and local sources in a variety of formats. The Astria CP supports MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC video compression, local ad insertion, forward error correction and provides real-time conditioning for distribution of video and audio over any ATM, IP, or RF broadband network. The Astria VSP provides the highest density, carrier class, single chassis product for the delivery of IP video over RF broadband access networks, including coax and FTTP (Fiber to the Premises).
